Finca Carolina is only 4 km from the Ballena Marine National Park. It is home to the famous whales’ tail formation along its pristine beach. At low tide, one can venture 200 m out onto to the rocky whales’ tail and gain a spectacular view of the surrounding mountain ranges. 16 kms of coast line plus 1 km into the sea comprise this national park, one of only two marine national parks in Costa Rica. The beach offers both tranquil waters in the bay of Bahia and more turbulent waters for surfing along the southern portion of the park. One nautical mile far from the coast there are two rock formations called Roca Ballena and Las Tres Hermanas. Large numbers of seabirds and fish living around, and you can visit it by boat, as part of the of whales and dolphins watching tour, or in a kayaking tour that includes a paddling through the mangroves. This place and the whale´s tail are good spots for snorkeling and scuba diving.
Many waterfalls, in addition to the one at our place, can be found in the several rivers that flow into the sea. Visit them by walk, by car, or in a horseback riding tour throught the mountains.
15km south from Uvita a Sea Turtle conservation program is being conducted by Reserva Playa Tortuga. Visitors can share a journey with them, learn how they work an with some luck witness the nesting of adults or the release of hatchlings.
